A warm weather advisory has been issued for residents of the Sabaragamuwa, Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Eastern provinces, as well as the Colombo, Gampaha, Hambantota, and Monaragala districts.
The Department of Meteorology says the heat index, which reflects how hot it feels to the human body, is expected to reach “Caution Level” in these areas during the daytime.
The heat index is calculated based on relative humidity and maximum temperature.
Officials warn that prolonged exposure to the sun and outdoor activity may lead to fatigue, while continued exertion could result in heat cramps.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activities where possible.
