Colombo High Court Judge Rashantha Godawela has set the date June 17 to begin the trial in a case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC ) against former Power and Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody.
Jayakody is accused of causing a loss of Rs. 8.8 million to the Government in 2016, while serving as Manager of Procurement and Imports at the Lanka Fertilizer Company.
After the pre-trial conference was concluded, Judge Godawela announced that the hearing will commence on June 17.
In addition, The court has ordered summons to be issued for two prosecution witnesses to appear on that date.
