The long awaited first stock of two million imported eggs reached the Island on 23 March while the second shipment carrying one million eggs arrived four days ago. The third shipment is now awaiting the approval of the Department of Animal Production and Health (DAPH).
Samples from the third egg consignment, which reached the Island on Tuesday night, were scheduled to be referred to the laboratories for tests yesterday (5), Walisundara added.
The imported eggs have not yet received the approval to be sold for the general public as they are only distributed among bakery product manufacturers.
