A restaurant owner who was severely injured after being shot in the Midigama area in Ahangama, died after being hospitalized yesterday (29).
According to the police, A group of unidentified individuals who had reportedly arrived in a van had shot the victim in front of his restaurant.
He was rushed to the Matara Hospital following the shooting, but died while receiving hospital treatment.
The 32-year-old victim was sitting on a motorcycle in front of the said restaurant when the armed gang had arrived in a van and opened fire at him, using a T-56 assault rifle, noted the police.
The police revealed that the suspects are yet to be identified while the van used in the crime was later found abandoned in the Ahangama area.
