Can Ranil Wickremesinghe abscond court? He cannot do that and he will not. This is a clear political motive by the Sri Lanka police and government, said former MP Dayasiri Jayasekera.
He mentioned this while speaking at a media briefing a short while ago today (24).
“Denial of bail is only given if a suspect will either intimidate other suspects or if the suspect will abscond court. Ranil won’t do that. This was very evident that it was a motive by the police and the CID head Shani Abeysekera,” Jayasekera noted.
He further mentioned that CID chief Shani Abeysekera was demoted and then sent on retirement during Wickremesinghe’s tenure and this was a clear cut personal vendetta.
“The Government brought back Shani Abeysekera to use him as a pawn in their witchhunt against Wickremesinghe,” Jayasekera said.
