Arjun Aloysius, the Director of W.M. Mendis Distilleries, along with two others, was released from remand custody today after serving time for defaulting on a Rs. 3.5 billion Value Added Tax (VAT) payment.
The trio were sentenced to a prison term of 6 months on the 14th October 2024, yet have been released within 4 months of imprisonment.
The reason as to why they were released early is unknown.
