A nine-year-old boy has reportedly died following surgery at Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital, raising alarm over possible medical negligence. Dhanuja Vikramarachchi, a Grade 4 student from Haltota, was admitted for surgery related to a urinary tract issue on December 17th. The procedure took place on December 18th, but according to his parents, he did not regain consciousness afterward. Despite being moved to the Intensive Care Unit at Ridgeway Children’s Hospital, Dhanuja’s health worsened, leading to his death on December 22nd. His parents have lodged a complaint with the police, citing potential medical negligence, and investigations are currently ongoing. Efforts to reach the director of Sri Jayawardenepura General Hospital have been unsuccessful.
