A 20-year-old woman tragically lost her life after jumping in front of a train in the Nawadankulama area of Mundalama, following a confrontation with her boyfriend. Police investigations indicate that the victim, who worked at a private apparel factory in Marawila, was in a tumultuous relationship with a coworker, which was known to her family. Her mother reported that the couple frequently argued over the phone. After one such argument, the young woman stepped outside under the pretense of washing her face but instead sat on the railway track in the path of an approaching train. She sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, with her body taken to Puttalam Base Hospital.
