Following allegations of match-fixing in the Lanka T10 Super League, the owner of the Galle Marvels team has been extended in remand. Today, the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has decided to keep Prem Thakkar, an Indian national, in custody until December 18, 2024.
Thakkar was apprehended by Sri Lanka’s Sports Police Unit on December 12, responding to claims of a fixing approach associated with the Lanka T10 Super League. The arrest transpired after a foreign player reported being approached with a suspicious proposition regarding match-fixing.
Authorities are actively investigating the matter, which has cast doubts on the integrity of the inaugural Lanka T10 tournament.
