The Indian owner of the ‘Galle Marvels’ team in the Lanka T10 Super League has been remanded until December 16 following his arrest on December 12 over match-fixing allegations. Prem Thakur, an Indian national and franchise owner, was taken into custody by Sri Lanka Police at Kandy’s Pallekele Stadium, where the league is currently being held.
Police confirmed that Thakur is the owner of the ‘Galle Marvels,’ one of the six teams participating in the tournament. His arrest was prompted by a complaint from a West Indies player on his team who declined Thakur’s request to engage in match-fixing.
