The Parliament will convene from December 3 to 6, as announced by Secretary-General Kushani Rohanadeera following a meeting of party leaders chaired by Speaker Dr. Ashoka Ranwala. The session will kick off on Tuesday, December 3, with a debate on the Government Policy statement presented by the President, scheduled from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
The debate will continue on Wednesday, December 4, from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, culminating in a division on the Motion at 5:00 PM. Following this, discussions will shift to the Resolution on the Vote on Account for the first four months of 2025 on December 5 and 6, also from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
During the meeting, party leaders addressed various matters, including the allocation of debate time between Government and Opposition, the formation of committees, and the establishment of a Women Parliamentarians’ Caucus. Key participants included Deputy Speaker Dr. Rizvie Salih, Leader of the House Bimal Rathnayake, Chief Government Whip Dr. Nalinda Jayathissa, and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, among others.
