Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is set to appoint a new Prime Minister and Cabinet on Monday, November 18, following a record-breaking victory by his National People’s Power (NPP) in the snap general election, as confirmed by senior spokesman Tilvin Silva.
The upcoming Cabinet will be limited to 25 members, with the possibility of fewer, and will feature a scientific allocation of subjects for the ministries. The NPP achieved a remarkable triumph in the Parliamentary elections, securing a two-thirds majority with a total of 159 seats.
The inaugural session of the Tenth Parliament, consisting of members elected during the November 14, 2024 General Election, is scheduled to begin on November 21, as per the Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2403/13 issued by the President.
