Senior State Counsel Shaminda Wickreme was interdicted last week and currently an investigation is underway, The Newsdesk reliably learns.
It was revealed that Wickreme had filed a complaint at the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption (CIABOC) after was interdicted from the Attorney General’s office, and officials from CIABOC had paid a visit to the Attorney General’s office.
Reliable sources have revealed that Wickreme had complained to the Attorney General recently of corruption within the department, yet no action was taken.
It was following the complaints that Wickreme was then interdicted.
Additionally, allegations have mounted against the former state counsel, and an investigation is currently underway.
