President Anura Kumara Dissanayake expressed “warm congratulations” to Trump, recognizing the substantial support he garnered to become the 47th president of the U.S. Dissanayake also articulated his hopes for ongoing collaboration, stressing the significance of pursuing shared goals that would benefit both Sri Lanka and the United States.
In a similar vein, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa extended his congratulations to Trump, wishing for “peace, goodwill, and meaningful cooperation” throughout his impending term. Premadasa expressed his desire for Trump to possess wisdom and strength as he steers the nation’s future.
Former Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickramasinghe commended Trump’s election as a “historic accomplishment,” likening it to the unique political path of former U.S. President Grover Cleveland. Wickramasinghe underscored the confidence the American populace has placed in Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, to “Make America Great Again,” and extended his best wishes for their forthcoming endeavors.
