The Meteorology Department reports that showers or thundershowers are expected intermittently in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-western, and Northern provinces, as well as in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Some areas within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-western, and Northern provinces may experience fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm.
Additionally, showers or thundershowers are anticipated in various parts of the island during the evening or night.
Strong winds, reaching speeds of 40-45 km/h, may occur at times in the Northern, North-central, North-western, and Central provinces, along with Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the risks associated with temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
