The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has clarified that it is not associated with any calls informing job seekers for employment in Israel to make additional payments. Additional General Manager of International Affairs, Gamini Senarath Yapa, stated that candidates who have already settled their payments do not need to proceed with any further payments.
On the 21st, the SLBFE received multiple complaints regarding a person making phone calls and claiming that those seeking employment in Israel must pay a sum of Rs. 14,700. Yapa explained that all candidates preparing to work in Israel’s agricultural sector have already settled their payments with the SLBFE.
“Someone has fraudulently sent a message asking them to repay an amount of Rs. 14,700 […] The bureau has not released such information in any way. ” said the Additional General Manager of International Affairs of the SLBFE.
The SLBFE urges anyone encountering such situations to contact them at the hotline 1989.
