Sonali Wanigabaduge from News 1st was awarded the South Asia Laadli Media & Advertising Award for Gender Sensitivity 2024, representing Sri Lanka at a ceremony in Mumbai on October 9, 2024.
Organised by Population First, the awards recognised 14 recipients from seven South Asian countries, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Nepal. Sonali was honoured for her work on ‘The People’s Platform,’ addressing issues like gender stereotypes and women’s political participation.
A lawyer and Company Secretary for the Capital Maharaja Group, she also holds a Master’s degree in Transitional Justice, Human Rights, and the Rule of Law.
