High level IMF officials to arrive in Sri Lanka today

A high level group from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is set to visit Sri Lanka today.

Led by Krishna Srinivasan, Director of the Asia Pacific Department, the team plans to be in Colombo from October 2 to 4 to engage with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Sri Lanka’s new economic team.

The purpose of this high-level mission is to deliberate on the current economic landscape and the progress of economic reforms within Sri Lanka’s IMF-supported economic program, as per a spokesperson from the global financial institution.

Cabinet Spokesman Vijitha Herath mentioned that initial discussions regarding the country’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program will occur during this visit.

Furthermore, a more in-depth conversation on its structural aspects is scheduled to take place in New York towards the end of October, as stated during a press briefing in Colombo yesterday.
