National People’s Power (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake has been sworn in today (23) as the 9th Executive President of Sri Lanka, after scoring a significant election victory.
Following a groundbreaking second round of counting, he has been chosen as Sri Lanka’s new president. At 55 years old, he successfully competed against opposition leader Sajith Premadasa, with current President Ranil Wickremesinghe finishing in third place.
The ceremony took place before Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya this morning at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.
