Indian Coast Guard has intercepted three Sri Lankan citizens and confiscated a fibre boat for breaching the international maritime boundary close to Rameswaram on Monday.
They were then detained by the Marine Police at Mandapam station, in accordance with the regulations of the Foreigners Act and Passport (Entry into India) Rule.
The individuals taken into custody were recognised as Ramalingam Niroshan (34), Bala Ramesh (38), and P. Pullai Kumar (44), all from Jaffna.
Sources have reported that a collaborative inquiry is currently in progress.
