In response to a request from the Election Commission regarding the Presidential election scheduled for Saturday (21), the Education Ministry has declared the closure of all schools on Friday (20). Schools will resume normal operations on Monday (23).
Additionally, the Ministry has instructed that schools designated as polling centers must be handed over to the respective Grama Niladharies after school hours on Thursday (19). Zonal Education Directors and principals have been directed to ensure the provision of necessary tables, chairs, and hall facilities for polling station activities.
Furthermore, schools designated as counting centers will only be closed during the specified period outlined in the circular.
