Republican Report claims Joe Biden took 532 days off during his presidency

According to a recent report by RNC Research, a Republican platform, US President Joe Biden has been away from the White House for roughly 40% of his presidency. The report claims that Biden has taken 532 vacation days in less than four years in office. Similar accusations were made by Republicans last year, but the White House defended Biden’s time off, emphasizing his continued engagement in presidential duties even while on vacation.

RNC Research’s report suggests that the 81-year-old President’s time off equates to 48 years’ worth of vacation for the average American worker. This comparison contrasts Biden’s 532 vacation days with the typical 10 to 14 days of paid vacation annually that an American worker receives, totaling about one year over a 40-year career.

Since assuming office in January 2021, Biden has frequently visited his homes in Delaware, taking extended breaks at various locations. Last year, RNC Research released a report stating that, by August 2023, Biden had spent 382 days—40% of his presidency—out of office.

However, a Washington Post report, citing White House pool data, indicated that within the first 853 days of his presidency, Biden spent 256 days on vacation or at his Delaware residences. By comparison, the report highlighted that former President Donald Trump spent over 250 days on vacation within the same timeframe.

As Biden’s political career approaches its conclusion, scrutiny over his vacation time intensifies. Following a challenging debate with former President Trump, Biden halted his re-election campaign in July, prompting concerns about his fitness for office. Vice President Kamala Harris has been nominated by the Democratic Party to run against Trump in the upcoming November election.

Biden has announced his intent to remain in office until January 2025, with several pending plans set to be fulfilled before the conclusion of his term.
