Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Weligama organiser and former UC Chairman Rehan Jayawickreme has announced that he has received official permission from the secretary of education to implement the ‘sakwala’ program in all Weligama schools that fit the requirement.
He further noted that the Opposition Leader, Sajith Premadasa, and his resources will not be used for this program and all funding will be done by private donors.
“The opposition leader has given me his unwavering support and guidance for this program which was originally his concept,” noted Jayawickreme.
Thus, 14 classrooms will receive digital classrooms worth Rs 1.5 million (a total cost of rs 21 Million) and the remaining schools will receive a sum of Rs 300,000 individually to use for a project of their choice which is approved by the relevent authorities including engineer approvals.
