Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that he will support abolishing the executive presidency.
Speaking to the media, Rajapaksa said he realised that this was also the demand of the people.
“I’ve held office [as the president]. I’ve already enjoyed it… It is good to abolish the executive presidency”, Rajapaksa said.
Responding to a question raised by a Journalist, he further stated that the efforts to abolish the executive presidency may be a conspiracy to postpone the elections as well.
“[…] That is possible, we know who Ranil [Wickremesinghe] is”, he said.
Additionally, Rajapaksa expressed confidence in his party’s victory in any of the upcoming elections, whether it is the presidential election or the general election.
