The police constable allegedly aiding and abetting underworld figure “Harak Kata’s” recent escape attempt at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been arrested.
The officer was taken into custody by the CID and will be handed to the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) for further questioning.
On September 10, “Harak Kata”, who was being interrogated by CID officers, had reportedly laced their tea with poison.
Subsequently requesting a washroom break, he was escorted out of the interrogation room with his police constable aide and a Police Special Task Force (STF) officer.
“Harak Kata’s” unsuccessful escape attempt occurred as he walked out of the washroom, launching at the STF officer to snatch his firearm.
The police aide fled the scene, however, his mother and brother-in-law of this constable were arrested on September 18, with police obtaining a 90-day detention for their interrogation.
