Abducted bus driver arrives at Gampola Police station.

The bus driver associated with the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Bus Depot in Gampola, who had been attacked and abducted yesterday morning (24), has escaped from his abductors and arrived at Gampola Police station last night. 

The victim claims that he was taken to Orugudawatta area in Colombo in the van in which he was abducted.

He has been admitted to the Gampola Teaching Hospital by the police, for treatment. Police have  recently uncovered that the group of attackers also included a woman.

The abductors, who arrived in a van, had reportedly intercepted an SLTB bus, which was travelling from travelling from Mawela to Kandy last morning.

46-year-old bus driver, Hemantha Rajapaksa, was attacked after four individuals boarded the bus and forced him inside the van they had arrived in. 

According to police, Rajapaksa, a resident of the   Wattegama area was on his way to work when the incident had taken place.
