Further to CCTV footage leaked from the Cotta road Borella Cargill’s Foodcity of the branch managers engaging in a brawl with a customer, Sri Lanka police have revealed that the relavant managers and employees have been suspended from their duties and an inquiry is currently underway by the Cargill’s management.
Speaking to The Newsdesk today (23), Police spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa, said that no police entry was lodged at the Borella station in regards to this incident.
“The Cargills management, nor the woman who was attacked has lodged an entry at the police station. We understand that the incident took place because the customer had attempted to steal from that particular outlet and was intercepted by the managers. A heated exchange took place, and the brawl began,” said Thalduwa.
He further noted that the Cargills management does not condone the behaviour of the employees and will be taking action against the employees who had attacked the customer.
The employee who leaked the CCTV footage has also been suspended until the Cargills management takes action.
Meanwhile, the Cargills management has released a statement to the public with an apology and states that stern action would be taken against the employees who engaged in this manner.
