A woman from Thalathuoya was apprehended by officers from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs 350,000. The arrest took place at the parking lot near Bogambara Stadium in Kandy, following a complaint from a Gonahena resident in Kadawatha. Acting as an intermediary, she reportedly accepted the bribe to expedite government procedures for the complainant to secure a land plot in ‘Kirimatiyawatta’ within the Pathahewaheta Divisional Secretariat Division for cultivation. The suspect is set to appear before the Kandy Magistrate’s Court.
