Two individuals arrested for aiding police constable for Harak Kata’s attempted escape.

Following criminal figure and infamous drug kingpin, “Harak Kata’s” escape attempt at Criminal Investigation Department (CID) recently, two individuals have been arrested by the Columbo Crimes Division (CCD) on suspicion of aiding the complicit constable.

Criminal gang leader, Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne, who goes by the alias “Harak Kata” had reportedly attempted to flee from the CID’s custody on September 10. According to the CID, the gang leader was assisted by a police constable who had departed the scene after the incident and remains hidden to this date.

With the help of the police constable in question, “Harak Kata” had reportedly laced the tea of the officers whom interrogated him with poison during his questioning.

Later, he had requested to go to the washroom, being escorted by his aide and another sub-inspector associated with the Police Special Task Force (STF), present for the protection of the suspect.

By this point, the “Harak Kata’s” handcuffs had been removed. Despite this, he exited the washroom acting as if he were still cuffed. He then had attempted to take the STF officer’s firearm, leading to a brawl.

Another group of officers quickly arrived at the scene upon hearing the scuffle and detained the kingpin in their own custody.

The mother and the and brother-in-law of the police constable were arrested on September 18 and a 90-day detention was obtained by the police to interrogate them.

Police obtain a 72 hours detention order to question the two persons who had helped the Police Constable to facilitate the escape of drug trafficker & underworld figure ‘Harak Kata’.
