The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has removed three of its members, Pavithra Wanniarachchi, S.M. Chandrasena, and Rohitha Abeygunawardane, from all their roles for violating the party’s stance in the presidential election by supporting President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
In a written notification, SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam communicated their removal from party positions.
The party had chosen MP Namal Rajapaksa as its presidential candidate. Despite this decision, the aforementioned MPs diverged from the party’s official position to endorse the President instead.
