Customs Prevention Division officers in Katunayake apprehended three individuals transporting a cocaine stash valued at Rs. 75 million from the Katunayake Airport Air Cargo Village on Tuesday (10).
The package consisted of a 2.139 kg cocaine stash concealed within a medical device air pump. It had been dispatched from Bogotá, Colombia to an address in Gampaha, Ganemulla via air using a courier service on August 25.
Among those arrested were two brothers, aged 23 and 24, residing in Maligawatte, Colombo, and a 30-year-old wharf clerk from Siyambalanduwa employed at the Air Cargo Village. The Customs Prevention Division officers intercepted them as they attempted to exit with the parcel after retrieving it.
The seized cocaine and the three individuals implicated in the attempted transport were handed over to the Katunayake Airport Police Narcotics Division for further investigation.
