The parliamentary session was temporarily halted this morning (21) as a heated situation arose while Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa was addressing the Parliament.
Premadasa’s comments in respect of the economic crisis in the country and the Supreme Court’s ruling against those responsible sparked uproar, forcing Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to adjourn the session briefly.
While speaking, the SJB leader mentioned that former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa and others who were found to be held accountable for the economic crisis continue to enjoy special perks despite the Supreme Court ‘guilty’ determination.
