A trade union action by the Locomotive Operating Engineers’ Association (LOEA) has disrupted train services with at least 20 train journeys cancelled.
Commuters are advised to brace for disruptions, including delays and cancellations, during the strike.
Multiple trains starting from Rambukkana, Chilaw, Kalutara Aluthgama, Panadura, Padukka, and Kosgama to Colombo have been called off.
A number of trains departing from Colombo have also faced cancellations due to the strike.
Sri Lanka Railways has cautioned that other trains may encounter delays as the strike continues.
