Street vendor arrested for verbally abusing tourist

A street vendor, who owns a small stall selling kottu, has been arrested by the Keselwatte police a short while ago today (16) for verbally abusing and harassing a tourist.

This was announced by Police Media Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa today (16).

The tourist had posted the incident a few days ago of the vendor who was verbally abusive, harassing and was attempting to sell a string hopper kottu for an exorbitant price of Rs 1900.

The tourist, who is also a seasoned traveller, had refused to pay the sum and insisted that the price quoted was not fair, to which the vendor had started abusing the tourist in an inappropriate manner.

Sri Lanka police had immediately taken action and the vendor was arrested today.
