Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage convened officials from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) at the Ministry of Sports on the 16th to discuss the current cricket landscape in the country. The meeting centered on plans to improve cricket facilities, strategies for making stadiums more sustainable, and leveraging cricket to boost tourism.
The Minister highlighted the pressing challenges faced within the SLC framework, stressing the urgency for effective solutions. Additionally, the discussions included seeking SLC’s collaboration in fostering other sports disciplines and initiatives aimed at promoting sports development in schools alongside cricket.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Sports Minister Sugath Thilakaratne, Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Eranga Gunasekara, and representatives from Sri Lanka Cricket.
