Today, social activist Namal Kumara was taken into custody by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) after appearing to give a statement. His arrest is linked to an audio recording that has been shared on social media, allegedly defaming His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo. It has been reported that the Archdiocese of Colombo had previously called for an investigation into this issue.
