The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will not hand over the role the SJB holds, while having the opposition leader, to a party that failed to get anywhere closer to the SJB during the recent elections, says former Weligama Mayor & SJB Weligama organizer Rehan Jayawickreme.
He made this statement today (14) while speaking exclusively with The Newsdesk SL, debunking the false media release by the UNP.
Earlier today, The UNP announced that all groups opposing the National People’s Power met today and decided to work together under the leadership of Ranil Wickremesinghe, adding that Nalin Bandara of the SJB was present for the discussion and had agreed to the same.
Whereas, Jayawickreme stated that no such agreement was made and such a statement released by the UNP was completely false.
“The SJB has shown a 2-3% increase while the UNP has failed to show any improvement. We are ready to give our support collectively to a coalition after further discussions, but the fact that Ranil Wickremesinghe will lead and the SJB will join is false and baseless,” said Jayawickreme.
