A secret vote is currently underway to elect the Mayor of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC).
Earlier today, tensions flared up during the inaugural session over the election process, with heated arguments among members on whether to hold an open or secret ballot.
However, despite the morning hours experiencing tensions, the CMC members eventually agreed to proceed with a secret vote to elect the new Mayor.
