Ranil arrested: If Sri Lanka has to be fixed, tough choices should be made, says Rehan

If Sri Lanka is to be fixed, tough choices as such should be made to ensure Sri Lanka develops into a nation free from corruption , says former Mayor of Weligama and SJB member Rehan Jayawickreme.

He made this statement while speaking exclusively with The Newsdesk SL today (23).

“I have no personal animosity with Ranil Wickremesinghe, and I will continue to criticise the government when they make stupid decisions. But, if efforts are made to ensure that Sri Lanka is free of corruption, I will condone them,” Jayawickreme noted.

He further went on to say that it doesn’t matter who it is, the law should abide for all.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s Ranil Wickremesinghe or anyone else, if such measures are to be taken to curb corruption, I wholeheartedly support it,” he said.

Further, Jayawickreme mentioned that he hasn’t been a blind supporter of the current government, and will not criticise every single thing the government does while standing in the opposition.

“I stood up against the government in the way they handled the Weligama PS matter. I stood up against the government when their ministers say silly things that were not factually not correct. But with what happened yesterday, I feel the law should be equal to all,” Jayawickreme reiterated.

Additionally, Jayawickreme stated that he was against the YouTuber Sudatha predicting such judiciary outcomes as it only shows that there are biases within the government.
