A group of individuals has blocked the Anuradhapura to Thanthirimale road at Oyamaduwa in a demonstration seeking solutions for the increasing problem of wild elephants encroaching on villages. The protesters allege that a herd of elephants, recently relocated to the area, has caused significant damage to crops. Beginning at 7:00 AM today, residents gathered to block the road, holding placards and showcasing various crops that have been destroyed by the elephants. Reports indicate that police attempts to disperse the protesters were unsuccessful.
