The Election Commission has issued comprehensive instructions for voters participating in the upcoming presidential election scheduled for September 21, 2024.

With more than three candidates contesting, voters will have the opportunity to mark their first preference for one candidate and indicate their second and third preferences for two additional candidates.
To cast their ballot, voters are required to place the number 1 in the designated box alongside the name and symbol of their favored candidate. Then, they can indicate 2 and 3 for their second and third choices, respectively.
The Commission has clarified that a ballot will remain valid if it includes a correctly marked vote for one candidate, even if the second and third preferences are not indicated.
Visual aids have been provided by the Commission to demonstrate the correct method of marking the ballot. Furthermore, it has underscored that any clear mark signifying the voter’s intent, such as an X, will be counted as a vote for the chosen candidate.
