It has been reported that several independent journalists have been refused entry by the police into the Fort Magistrate’s Court Complex and the roads surrounding.
The Newsdesk SL senior reporter contacted the Police IGP Priyantha Weerasooriya, who refuted claims that no such orders have been given to the police at the scene.
Whereas, The Newsdesk SL contacted the Maligawatte Police OIC who claimed that he got “orders from above”, yet refused to mention a name of the official who gave such orders.
Several attempts to contact SDIG Western Province have proved futile.
