Deputy Minister of Public Security Sunil Watagala announced yesterday that the salary and allowances of all MPs and Ministers of the NPP government are credited to a single account, a tradition upheld by the party since 1994 when Nihal Galappatti, the first JVP MP, was elected.
Speaking to reporters, he noted that the President also follows this practice. “The funds are deposited into an account in Borella and are utilized for public service,” he stated.
