The State Trading Corporation has announced the arrival of a new rice consignment ordered by the government. Chairman Ravindra Fernando confirmed that 520 metric tons of rice have been received, which will be distributed to Lanka Sathosa and Cooperative outlets starting today. He also mentioned that a larger shipment of 5,200 metric tons is anticipated to arrive before January 7th, delivered in multiple consignments. In addition, the tender process for importing 30,000 metric tons of salt will wrap up today, with the salt shipment expected to reach Sri Lanka by January 31st.
