President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is set to appoint new Provincial Governors today (25th September) to replace those that have resigned.
So far, nine provincial governors appointed by the former administration have resigned from their positions. They include:
– Lalith U. Gamage, Governor of the Central Province
– Maheepala Herath, Governor of the North Central Province
– Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, Governor of the Southern Province
– Senthil Thondaman, Governor of the Eastern Province
– Naveen Dissanayake, Governor of the Sabaragamuwa Province
– Anura Vidanagamage, Governor of the Uva Province
Additionally, P.S.M. Charles, Governor of the Northern Province, and Nazeer Ahamed, Governor of the North Western Province, have submitted their resignation letters.
Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonetileke has also informed President Anura Kumara Dissanayake of his resignation from the position of Governor of the Western Province.
Marking a significant change in the provincial administration of Sri Lanka, the new governors are set to be sworn in today.
