New Cabinet to be sworn in today

The Cabinet Ministers of the newly formed government are set to be sworn in by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today, November 18, at 10:00 a.m. at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo. Reports indicate that both Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers will participate in this ceremony.

Tilvin Silva, a senior spokesman for the National People’s Power (NPP), previously mentioned that the Cabinet will consist of 25 members or fewer, with a scientific approach to the allocation of ministry subjects. Additionally, the NPP has confirmed that there will be no change in the Prime Minister’s position, with Dr. Harini Amarasuriya continuing in this role for the new government.

In a statement to the media in Gampaha, MP Mahinda Jayasinghe emphasized that he and his fellow MPs are dedicated to progressing in line with the public’s needs. The NPP achieved a significant victory in the recent Parliamentary elections, obtaining a two-thirds majority with a remarkable total of 159 seats.
