At around 5:30am this morning (September 25th), a military Defender vehicle was involved in an accident near the Parliament entrance, resulting in traffic delays in the vicinity.
While traveling from Pelawatta to Borella, the vehicle swerved off the road and plunged into the Diyawanna Canal. Fortunately, only the driver was in the vehicle and managed to emerge unharmed.
The Army successfully retrieved the vehicle after almost two hours, causing traffic congestion near the Parliament entryway.
