John Alfred Tinniswood, World’s Oldest Man, Passes Away at 112

John Alfred Tinniswood, the world’s oldest living man, has died at the age of 112, confirmed by his family. He passed away on Monday at the Southport care home where he resided. A lifelong Liverpool football fan, Mr. Tinniswood became the world’s oldest man in April after Juan Vicente Pérez Mora’s passing. His family shared that his final day was “surrounded by music and love.”

Born on August 26, 1912, Mr. Tinniswood became the UK’s oldest man in 2020 and was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records in April 2024. He leaves behind a daughter, Susan, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family described him as “intelligent, decisive, brave, calm in any crisis,” qualities that served him well during his military service in World War II.

After the war, he worked for Royal Mail and as an accountant for Shell and BP before retiring in 1972. Mr. Tinniswood moved to a care home before his 100th birthday, inspiring staff and residents alike. In memory of his life, the family requests donations to Age UK or a charity of choice.
