Israel strikes Beirut for the first time in nearly a week

Israeli jets struck the southern suburbs of Beirut early Wednesday for the first time in six days, as reported by Lebanese state media. Casualty numbers are still unclear.

This attack followed caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s statement about U.S. assurances regarding a reduction in Israeli strikes. Israel targets Hezbollah assets in the area, which is densely populated. The military indicated that the strike hit a weapons warehouse beneath a residential building.

An evacuation warning was issued on the X platform for a building in Haret Hreik. Three strikes were noted in the area, the first occurring less than an hour after the warning.
