The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has granted bail to Prem Thakur, the Indian owner of the ‘Galle Marvels’ team in the Lanka T10 Super League, who was remanded in custody over match-fixing allegations during the tournament held at Kandy’s Pallekele Stadium.

The hearing took place today (20) before Colombo Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage, where Thakur’s legal team sought his release on bail. In turn, Senior State Counsel Udara Karunatilaka, representing the prosecution, requested the court to issue an order ensuring Thakur remains in Sri Lanka.

The court approved Thakur’s release on a cash bail of Rs. 500,000, along with two sureties of Rs. 5,000,000 each. Additionally, an overseas travel ban was imposed, requiring Thakur to report to the Special Investigation Unit for Prevention of Offenses Relating to Sports every Wednesday. The next hearing is scheduled for January 27, 2025.
